As you might imagine, I have lots of opinions to volunteer on this one!

I'm aiming to give a bit of a market overview as I have been seeing things and then I'll be talking through a lot of the approaches companies have been using to select the right vendor. In many cases, one of the biggest competitors at the moment is the 'self-build' category. There's a lot to say about this – it can be so tempting, and so exciting, to build yourself. In many cases, it can also look or feel really cost-effective. Until you have to start factoring in 24/7 support, constant upgrades and opportunity costs.

As a former Chief Digital Officer and Chief Transformation Officer in banks, I constantly walked that tension tightrope between the IT teams, desperate, keen and excited to 'do it ourselves' and the need to offer a comprehensive, compelling, best-in-class service level to our internal and external customers.
