Plump.ai is a virtual assistant to keep your job search active 24/7 without having to do anything. I can imagine quite a lot of candidates thinking, 'Absolutely brilliant'.

Here's how the company describes its offering:

Plump takes care of search, application, communication and management processes, so you can focus on things you love.

I sat and watched this video walk-through and found the combination of capabilities nothing short of astonishing.

It's underpinned by a Conversational AI interface and this is demonstrated in the video. Here are some screenshots:

In this one, the user is asking Plump.ai to filter to only show Java related jobs.

Yahor, (the Plump.ai founder) has second thoughts on one job and then tells Plump.ai to just go for it:

Plumpi – I love the name – then replies with 'done', essentially.

And then Yahor shows the end-to-end system working perfectly by illustrating the 'thank you' email response from (in this demo example) Wise:

If you're interested to try it out, Plump.ai is accepting early access requests on their website right now.

I think this could be a highly compelling way of managing your career and keeping your options open. I know there's a lot spoken about the 'AI revolution' when it comes to, for example, people automatically applying ("spraying and praying") for thousands of jobs using AI.

At the same time though, job search at its core is really simple. It's about connecting people. If, through these kinds of tools, you can locate the best possible talent for your company, that's only a good thing, right?

The challenge, of course, is the other side of things: If everyone was 'fair' and only applied for 'the right' jobs, we'd probably be fine. But, of course, some people will have vastly different attitudes. It's all very well writing this text from a well lit, warm room. It's another thing when you're desperate for a job and any-tool-that-gets-you-there is fair game. And when there's next to no incremental effort, many will simply press the button.

I think there's a way through this maze of challenges though. I can imagine using an agent like Plump.ai to 'manage my career'. To be on the look out for interesting roles. To apply – with my consent – for things that I would very well consider.

Perhaps the answer is to make things premium. I can imagine many talent acquisition people being very open to the likes of Plump.ai, IF it makes their life easier. If it makes things more effective for them. If they end up being able to attract and evaluate a higher quality set of candidates as a result.

Nice work team Plumb.ai – and nice work to the founder, Yahor. By the way, wouldn't this be even cooler – almost Jarvis like – if the team hooked it up to one of the Play.ht voice interfaces (see previous post)? Rock on.
