Novo Nordisk uses Gen AI to reduce clinical report writing from 12 weeks to 10 minutes

I came across this fascinating metric via Reddit and then LinkedIn. It was referenced in a tweet by Jake who points out that the huge pharma giant, Novo Nordisk has gone from a team of 50 drafting clinical reports to just 3.
I went and found the original post - it's actually from a case study published by MongoDB. It highlights how the team at Novo Nordisk are harnessing Generative AI to rather dramatic effect.
Here's one of the key quotes in the case study:
“We’ve reduced the time taken to create Clinical Study Reports from 12 weeks to 10 minutes, with higher quality outputs and a fraction of the team. In terms of value, each day sooner a medicine gets to market can add around $15 million in revenue to the company.”
The MongoDB team even produced a video overview which is worth a watch:
I think Jake's tweet is also useful to reference:
as late as last Thursday I had a conversation with a prominent editor convinced AI can only save marginal amounts of time

I am routinely meeting senior executives who absolutely are not recognising the power and opportunity of AI – or the stage we're at now in terms of its capabilities.
Case studies like this one are crucial in highlighting just how far some companies are progressing with their adoption of technology.
Nice work MongoDB. Nice work Novo Nordisk!
