Interesting job alert: Chatbot Platform Owner, Sage
I found this one online and thought it was worthwhile highlighting for several reasons.
Firstly, someone reading might be interested in the opportunity. The direct link is right here.
Second, it's a super insight into how Sage – a world leader in accountancy software – is approaching the role of a Chatbot Platform Owner. Isn't it interesting that they've also included "Conversational AI" in brackets for the job title? Perhaps to broaden the reach of the role as much as possible?
Third, it's useful to understand the broader picture: Sage is clearly serious about their approach with Chatbots.
Here's the key text from the job description:
Are you passionate about AI and committed to driving innovative customer service solutions? We are seeking a forward-thinking Conversational AI Lead to join our Customer Support team. In this role, you will be instrumental in enhancing and maintaining our global chatbot platforms, focusing particularly on cognition and natural language understanding (NLU). You will lead the integration of generative AI (LLMs) into our chatbot conversations, ensuring our technology adapts and evolves to meet business and customer demands effectively.
This pivotal role offers the opportunity to lead cutting-edge initiatives within the chatbot space, significantly impacting how we engage with customers and fulfil our service commitments. You will have the autonomy to shape the future of our chatbot interactions across global markets, enhancing customer experiences and operational efficiencies.
The job description will soon disappear from the internet I'm sure, so I wanted to preserve this for posterity. Here are some more responsibilities:
Oversee the cognitive aspects of our chatbot platforms, focusing on understanding customer intent and enhancing NLU capabilities.
- Lead the integration of LLM generated content into chatbot conversations, collaborating closely with regional content writers and technology teams.
- Continuously analyse demand drivers and bot metrics to optimize model performance and effectiveness.
- Maintain and expand our global intent library, ensuring a comprehensive and responsive customer interaction framework.
- Develop and standardize common conversational design components to streamline bot authoring and journey design.
- Define and refine the chatbot's tone of voice, ensuring consistency and alignment with our brand's communication standards.
What else?
We are looking for proven experience in developing and maintaining chatbot platforms with a focus on NLU and cognitive understanding.
So ideally you'd have some experience working with an existing platform, I think.
I'd suggest this is a bit of an ask – how many people out there have this precise experience at the moment:
Expertise in integrating generative AI (LLMs) into conversational frameworks.
One of the most effective ways I've seen Generative AI integrated into conversational frameworks is how the team at boost.ai have handled things. I don't imagine there are that many product / platform owners out there was demonstrable, direct experience yet.
Let me draw your attention to an interesting point on the LinkedIn listing:
It was reposted 2 weeks ago. The fact that Sage has reposted would indicate that they didn't feel they got enough candidates the first time around. 38 applicants is also an indicative metric. Almost every other job listing I look at has '100+ applicants', mostly, I imagine, because so many people are spraying and paying with their LinkedIn applications.
I can think of quite a few people who could potentially handle this role – but a lot of them are being very well paid in, for example, financial services, and perhaps unlikely to move.
This is one to watch – and good luck Team Sage.
