ABN AMRO is hiring a Chapter Lead for Conversational AI Engineering
If you're wondering how a Tier-1 financial services player like ABN Amro organises its Conversational AI activities, there are a few hints in the job posting they published yesterday on LinkedIn.
The job is based in Amsterdam and will supervise the engineering team supporting the bank's Conversational AI activities. Here are two key paragraphs from the listing:
You will be part of grid Customer Interaction. This department is responsible for all digital client interaction tooling, like Video Banking, Contact Center solutions, Conversational AI and Webcare tooling and the digitalization of processes, like Generic Customer Onboarding, Manage Customer Data and Identification & Verification.
Then here are some more details about how the Data Engineering Chapter organises itself:
The Chapter Data Engineering focuses on creating the right set of Data Tooling and processes to continuously improve our Conversational AI solutions. These solutions consist of three product lines: chat, voice and advisor assist. It is important to us to continuously improve the output of the Conversational AI to help our clients better, quicker and more personal.
Note that I'd imagine (but can't confirm!) that chat and voice are external facing services managing end-customer interaction and advisor-assist is the internal capability.
For posterity's sake, here's a screenshot of part of the LinkedIn listing:
The listing offers no direct hints on the specific technologies and vendors that ABN is using, however, it does indicate the following preferred technical experience:
You have experience with technologies like AI Services of Azure (Conversational Language Understanding, AI Search, OpenAI, etc.) Databricks and Microsoft Copilot Studio;
Good programming skills in Python and Pyspark;
You have working experience in the DevOps and Scrum way of working.
The LinkedIn listing is here. And here is the direct link to apply on the ABM AMRO website that helpfully also indicates the payscale is between €5,847 and €8,353 per month (so many job listings still say 'Salary: Excellent' which is not very helpful for anyone - so nice work ABN!).
Good luck for those interested!
